The Digital Outputs are digital output modules that are designed and manufactured by GE Fanuc to be used with digital input modules in a PLC or programmable logic controller. The Digital Outputs and the digital inputs are connected to the PLC’s Fieldbus network adapter and they communicate all of their messages and data through the network adapter. The Digital Outputs can have 2, 4, 8, or 16 channels depending on how much data they need to handle. They are active modules. Some of them support positive logic only while others support both positive and negative logic. The Digital Outputs can have 1-wire, 2-wire, 3-wire, or 4-wire connections. When the Digital Outputs’ inductive loads are switched off, this causes power to be fed back through the channels. This feedback can be eliminated with an external freewheeling protection device.
The GE Fanuc Digital Outputs can control up to 16 discrete outputs at a time if each of these outputs have the right current ratings. The supported current ratings for different Digital Outputs include 0.5 Amps and 2 Amps. Each channel on the Digital Outputs has an LED status indicator and the outputs are all supplied with power from the system’s output current path. The LED status indicators will glow red to alert the users of the Digital Outputs to different situations, including errors in the supply voltage, communication errors in the system bus, new diagnostics messages, and overload systems in at least one of the channels. These situations should be attended to as quickly as possible to prevent damage to the Digital Outputs.
The GE Fanuc Automation EP-2214 digital output module provides 4 outputs that operate with positive logic. These inputs require a voltage rating of 24 Volts DC. This module can be mounted on a DIN rail in either a horizontal or vertical position without the mounting position affecting its overall functioning.
The GE Fanuc Automation EP-2218 output module includes 8 digital outputs that operate with a voltage rating of 24 Volts DC. This device comes with technology that enables each output to receive power independently. It supplies multiple networks to output equipment.
The GE Fanuc Automation EP-225F digital output module includes an IP 20 housing that enables it to operate in controlled environments with extended temperature conditions. This device comes with 16 digital outputs that operate independently from one another. It also supports hot swapping.
The GE Fanuc EP-2614 module is a digital output module used with the RSTi-EP network adapter. Its output current rating is 2 Amps at 24 Volts DC per channel, and 8 Amps per module. It is hot-swappable and it features a plug-and-play connection.
The GE Fanuc EP-2634 module is an RSTi-EP digital output module with switchable Logic (Positive or Negative Logic). Its supply voltage ranges from 20.4 to 28.8 Volts. It has a thermal switch-off feature and it is short-circuit-proof.
The EP-2714 module is a GE Fanuc digital relay output module with 4 discrete outputs and 2 wire connections with positive logic. Its operating voltage range is 20.4 to 28.8 Volts and its output current rating is 6 Amps per channel and 24 Amps per module.
The GE Fanuc EP-2814 module is a solid-state digital relay output module with 4 positive logic type discrete outputs. The outputs are controlled by 4 semiconductor switches, each with current ratings of 0.5 Amps at 255 Volts AC. It has a fast switching speed of 10 milliseconds and its maximum switching frequency is 20 Hertz.
The EP-291F module is a specialty module manufactured by GE Fanuc. It has 16 discrete output channels with negative logic. It also has an output rating of 24 Volts DC.
