The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module is a 1-channel I/O counter module from the GE Fanuc RSTi-EP I/O system. This 1 channel can act as a digital output or a digital input. This module offers 2 high speed 32 bits counter outputs with a maximum input frequency of 100 Kiloohms.

The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module is a 1-channel special functions I/O counter module from the GE Fanuc RSTi-EP I/O system. The single standard channel in this module is divided into 2 smaller channels (CH0A and CH0B) that can each act as an input or an output depending on the application. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module is designed to accept and read one square-wave signal from an incremental encoder with 100 Kilohertz of input frequency. Each of the small channels within the standard channel can count upward or downward counting in any preset range of values, and they can be controlled via software configuration or locally via the gate, latch, or reset inputs. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module supports 1 non-isolated counted input capable of receiving incremental type inputs and other input characteristics for sensor types 1 and 3. This input also has a filtering capability, with an adjustable filtering time from 0.01 milliseconds to 1.0 millisecond. This input has a minimum and maximum input voltage rating of <5 and >11 Volts DC, and it has a maximum current rating of 3.5 milliamps per channel. 

 

The GE Fanuc EP-5111 Digital Counter Module’s input circuit supports 2-wire and 3-wire connections as well as built-in diagnostics and protective features such as individual channel diagnosis, module diagnosis, and reverse polarity protection. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module’s input circuit supports the pulse and direction operating mode (the AB mode) or the incremental operation mode for different applications. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module also has a digital output channel with 0.5 Amps of maximum output load per channel. This output circuit has built-in reverse polarity protection, module diagnosis, and channel diagnosis. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module’s output also offers channel diagnosis and reverse polarity protection. The power for operation comes from the RSTi-EP integrated power supply module. The EP-5111 Digital Counter Module has an acceptable operating voltage range of 20.4 Volts DC to 28.8 Volts DC, and a maximum current consumption rating of 8.0 milliamps (from the system current path).
