The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module is a 2-channel (32-bits) high speed counter module from the RSTi-EP remote I/O system. It is a special functions module. This module offers 2 high speed 32 bits counter inputs with a maximum input frequency of 100 Kiloohms.

The GE Fanuc EP-5112 Digital Counter Module is a 2-channel (32-bits) high speed counter module from the RSTi-EP remote I/O system. This module is designed to accept and read square-wave signals from an incremental encoder with a maximum input frequency of 100 Kilohertz. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module offers 2 operation modes (the pulse and direction mode or the incremental mode), and depending on the operating mode, both channels can be downward or upward independent of each other in any preset range value. Each 32-bit counter can be configured via software by adjusting the appropriate word control. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module has a status LED attached to each counter channel, and it has both diagnostic and alarm messages that are sent to the CPU. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module has 2 non-isolated input circuits that support incremental encoder inputs. Each input channel comes with integrated filtering capability with user-adjustable filtering time from 0.01 to 1 millisecond. 

 

Each GE Fanuc EP-5112 Digital Counter Module input circuit has a low voltage input range of less than 5 Volts DC and a high voltage range of more than 11 Volts DC, and it has a maximum current load of 35 milliamps per channel. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module input circuit supports both 2-wire and 3-wire connections with external input devices. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module offers built-in protective and diagnostic capabilities. It offers reverse polarity protection, module/channel diagnosis, diagnostic alarms, status indicators, and process alarms via parametrization. The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module is capable of sending process data, parameters, and diagnostics data (channel and module error-related messages) over the RSTi-EP I/O communication bus (with a 48 Mbps bus transfer rate). The EP-5112 Digital Counter Module is powered by the RSTi system integrated power supply which supplies a 20.4 to 28.8 Volts DC operating voltage range and 8 milliamps of maximum current draw (from the system current path).
