The GE Fanuc IC655MDL555 module is an I/O module that is designed for use with the GE Series Five programmable controllers. A total of 16 output circuits are provided on the IC655MDL555 module for controlling output loads. The IC655MDL555 positive output logic module is rated for 24 Volts DC. The status of the output circuits on the IC655MDL555 module is displayed on 16 LEDs that are located on the front of the module. The LEDs display the “on” or “off” status of the respective outputs, and when commanded through programming, they can also be used to display the I/O address of the module. The module outputs are divided into 4 groups, and each group has a single common connection labeled “C.” The users need to provide a 24 Volts DC power supply which provides power for both the user load and the module output circuit.
The groups of output circuits on the IC655MDL555 module can be powered from the same or from different power sources. The type of output circuit on the IC655MDL555 module is a P-MOSFET, open drain output circuit. The peak voltage per output circuit is 40 Volts DC and the typical voltage range is 5 to 26.4 Volts DC. The specifications for the maximum current per output, per common, and per module are 2 Amps, 10 Amps, and 20 Amps, respectively. The number of active output circuits and the current per output circuit depend on the ambient temperature of the IC655MDL555 module: 10 circuits can be active with 2 Amps current at up to 50 degrees Celsius, but at 60 degrees Celsius, the number of active circuits drops to 7, and 16 circuits can be active with 1.25 Amps current at up to 50 degrees Celsius but at 60 degrees Celsius, the number of active circuits drops to 11.
