The GE Fanuc IC610MDL153 output module is a sink output module. A total of 4 fused 24 Volts DC rated sink output circuits are available on the module. Each output circuit is rated at 2 Amps of current. The module outputs are referred to as sink outputs because when the output is energized, the current flows from the load into the field terminal for each circuit. Despite having 4 outputs, the IC610MDL153 module consumes 8 consecutive discreet references, of which 4 references are not available as “real world” outputs but which can be used as internal coils. Applications for the module include control of discrete loads including solenoids, indicator lights, and relay coils. A single LED is also provided on the IC610MDL153 output module to display the operational state of each of the outputs.
The wire size recommended by GE Fanuc for the IC610MDL153 output module is AWG 12 for a single wire and AWG 14 for 2 wires. The wiring from the field terminates on a terminal board that is provided for this purpose. The maximum output load is highly dependent on the ambient temperature: 4 circuits can be on at 50 degrees Celsius while sinking 2 Amps of current, but only 3 circuits can be on at 60 degrees Celsius while sinking 2 Amps of current. The recommended minimum and maximum operating voltages for the output circuits are 5 and 24 Volts DC. The peak voltage is 45 Volts DC. The peak leakage current is less than 0.4 milliamps at 40 Volts DC. A replaceable 5-Amps fuse is provided for each output on the IC610MDL153 output module. The power consumed by the module varies from 5 milliamps at 24 Volts DC to 12 milliamps at 9 Volts DC. The IC610MDL153 module weighs approximately 120 grams.
