The GE Fanuc IC600BF817 thermocouple input module is a microprocessor-based thermocouple input module for the GE Series Six PLC system. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module provides highly-sensitive inputs for the detection of low-level analog signals from thermocouple devices connected on the GE Series Six I/O bus. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module is a B-type thermocouple module with platinum/rhodium terminals and an input requirement range between +2.782 and + 13.814 millivolts. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module has two 4-channel thermocouple conditioners built into the circuit board. These conditioners can be assigned for use with any of the 7 thermocouple types (R, E, B, T, S, K+, and J) and the types of low-level signal conditioning it provides include high common-mode rejection, filtering, and low drift amplification.

 

The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module has an onboard microprocessor with a 13-bit analog/digital converter and a high-accuracy configurable gain amplifier that helps to preserve the signal quality. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module receives analog input signals from field thermocouple devices, and it then scales, linearizes, and converts these signals into temperature data (Celsius or Fahrenheit) that is sent to the CPU’s status table in either a sign-magnitude or 2’s complement data format. Optional external cold junction compensation elements can be connected to the module’s inputs to compensate for lost thermoelectric voltage from low-level signal devices. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module comes with 8 electrically-isolated inputs, and it has an open thermocouple detection capability that helps to simplify troubleshooting. The power for operation comes from the I/O rack power supply, and the IC600BF817 thermocouple input module draws 1.7 Amps of maximum backplane current. The IC600BF817 thermocouple input module is made to be installed on either the I/O rack or in a single slot of the GE Series Six CPU, and it comes with LED indicators.
