The GE Fanuc IC600BF818 thermocouple input module (Type E) is a temperature-sensitive input module from the GE Series Six RTD and thermocouple module family. The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module provides 8 electrically-isolated inputs for the detection of low-level analog signals from thermocouple devices. The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module has 2 thermocouple conditioners (with 4 channels each) that can be configured for any of the thermocouple types (J, K+, S, T, B, E, or R), and the low-level signal conditioning provided includes +/-1000 Volts DC signal isolation, reasonably high levels of common-mode rejection, filtering, and low drift signal amplification. The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module also has a high accuracy signal amplifier and a 13-bit A/D converter that helps to preserve signal integrity. Each output signal from the A/D converter consists of a 13-bit word (12-bit plus sign), which is equivalent to +/-4096 counts of resolution.
The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module, like all thermocouple module versions, comes with an on-board microprocessor which scales, linearizes, and converts every input signal into either degrees Fahrenheit or degrees Celsius temperature values. These temperature values are then sent alongside the other module’s information to the input status table of the Series Six CPU in either the 2’s complement or sign-magnitude formats by using a jumper selection. The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module has 8 electrically-isolated input circuits for connecting to thermocouple devices and on which external Cold Junction Compensation (CJC) elements can be connected. It draws power requirements from the I/O rack power supply and it is installed on either an I/O rack on a single slot of the GE Model 60 CPU. The IC600BF818 thermocouple input module has several DIP switches for configuring some basic module operation settings, and it comes with LED indicators that show its status.
