Technical Information

The IC600BF917 Axis Positioning Module or APM is a Type 2 intelligent and programmable APM designed by GE Fanuc. It comes with the circuit board and the faceplate. This single-axis positioning controller is designed to be used with the GE Series Six PLCs for providing a real-time interface between the controller and the servo/stepper controlled axis. The IC600BF917 Axis Positioning Module has 3 indicator LEDs that are the “BOARD OK,” “APM Enabled,” and “Drive Enabled” LEDs. The maximum power requirements of the module are +5 Volts DC at 1.25 Amps, +12 Volts DC at 265 milliamps, and -12 Volts DC at 155 milliamps. The faceplate of the module offers a variety of interfaces including the drive enable, negative/positive over travel switch, velocity command, tachometer output, analog input, and synchronized start interfaces.

 

The IC600BF917 Axis Positioning Module ensures that the complex calculation that is required to control a positioning system precisely is carried out correctly. Some of the advanced features of the module which make it stand out from other devices include dual-function facilities, programmable limit switches, Quad B encoder position feedback, analog/discrete inputs, digital speed regulation, and diagnostic features. It is recommended to install the module in a GE Model 60 CPU rack or a high-capacity I/O rack. However, the IC600BF917 Axis Positioning Module cannot be installed in a standard I/O rack. A maximum of 6 APMs can be installed in high-capacity I/O racks. During installation, make sure to remove the power from the rack. Connect the faceplate over the circuit board until it makes proper contact with it. The faceplate can be secured to the rack by using the thumbscrews at the top and bottom of the faceplate.
