Technical Information

The IC600CB503 control module is an I/O control module by GE Fanuc Automation. It is a member of the GE Series Six product family and it is intended for use in the CPUs from this series. This module specifically provides an interface between the primary I/O chain and the CPU. Additionally, it helps to control the transfer of data between the CPU and other exterior or connected devices like the data processing unit, and the program development terminal. The IC600CB503 I/O control module has 4 LED indicators which can be seen through the protective clear plastic faceplate. These LED indicators are used to show the I/O-chain parity and continuity conditions, fault or problems with the data processor unit, and whether the I/O is enabled or not. However, they can only operate when this module is installed correctly in the CPU rack that is properly powered.

 

There are several features that make the GE Fanuc IC600CB503 I/O control module special and enable it to provide optimal performance. It comes with two 37-pin Type-D connectors that enhance cable connections. There is one that is marked I/O which is used to link to the I/O receiver module that is up to 50 feet away. The other connector is labeled as the “PP/DPU” connector and it is used for the connection of a cable from the data processor unit or the program development terminal. The operators of the IC600CB503 I/O control module can select whether the CPU enters the “STOP” mode when Alarm 1 or Alarm 2 is activated. The power level required for this module to operate is 5 Volts DC, with a current requirement of 1 Amp, and the power and current are supplied by the CPU.
