The IC600CB517 communications control module is a Type 3 module. It is manufactured by GE Fanuc Automation as a product of the GE Fanuc Series Six line. This module is designed for the GE Series Six PLC that comprises 2 communication ports, 4 LED indicators, and 2 switches that are intended for use in device connection and control applications as well as for checking the operating status of the module. The IC600CB517 communication control module is primarily designed to provide a serial interface for the GE Series Six CPU and other intelligent devices. These devices can be used to initiate communications according to the supported communication protocols available for the Type 2 or Type 3 communication control modules and according to the electrical interface requirements. The intelligent devices that can be interfaced by the IC600CB517 module include color graphics terminals, process control modules, and microprocessor-based devices or the host computer. Additionally, the Type 2, Type 3, and I/O communications control modules can all be interfaced.

 

The GE Fanuc IC600CB517 communications control module features 2 programmable communications interfaces which enable a data link between the GE Fanuc Series Six CPU and the intelligent devices, programmable terminals, and the host computer. It also features onboard diagnostics features as well as board faults indicators which help to simplify troubleshooting and also indicate the correct transfer of data. Additionally, it also features a direct interface option for the operator interface unit which enhances the simplified operator inputs control process. The IC600CB517 communications control module has expanded memory which enables the addressing of the channeled inputs and outputs for up to 64K of user logic memory.
