Technical Information

The IC600CB524 arithmetic control module by the GE Fanuc is part of the GE Series Six product line. This arithmetic control module is intended to perform the arithmetic and logical operations for the Series Six CPUs. It contains 2 LED indicators which are the “RUN” and “CHECK” LEDs, and which are designed to indicate the CPU status and help in simplifying troubleshooting. The GE Fanuc IC600CB524 module can be used in different CPU models, including Model 60, Model 600, and Model 6000 CPUs, as well as in the CPUs from the Series Six product line, thus helping to reduce the spare parts inventory. Another useful feature is the bit-slice architecture, which provides high-speed processing and supports all the instruction sets of the GE Series Six CPU, including the expanded set for increased functionality and backward compatibility. This unit has 4 AM2903, bit-slice devices which are integrated circuits with a 16-bit microprocessor that works with the logic control module for generating the system control signals as well as the timing signals.

 

The IC600CB524 arithmetic control module links to the logic control module via the ribbon cable connector. The 2 LED indicators are visible through a plastic window on the faceplate. The “CHECK” LED indicator remains lit to indicate that the self-test process has been completed successfully once for every input and output sweep. The “CHECK” LED shows that there are no abnormal conditions present in the CPU such as longer scan times than usual or a failed system clock. The “RUN” LED indicator is used to show that the CPU is performing the execution sequences like it should and that the module is in the “RUN” mode. These LED indicators operate only when the IC600CB524 arithmetic control module is correctly installed and correctly powered in the CPU rack.
