Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC630CCM300 data communication module is a serial interface communication module for the GE Series Three PLC control system. The IC630CCM300 communication module provides a serial RS-422 interface between the GE Series Three programmable controllers and RS-422-compatible devices, such as a Workmaster computer, a Series Six PC, or a host computer. The memory accessed by the IC630CCM300 module includes discrete I/O points, timer and counter references, user logic, and diagnostic information. The IC630CCM300 communication module is compatible with the GE Series Six PLCs, Workmaster computers, and a wide range of host computers, and when using the “Communication Control Module” type 2 protocol that is also known as the CCM2, the Series Six controllers or host computers can initiate supervisory control over the Series Three PCs.

 

The IC630CCM300 data communication module supports both point-to-point and multi-drop configurations, and in both configurations, the Series Three PLC is configured as the slave device and the Series Six PLC, Workmaster computer, or host computer is configured as the master device. The point-to-point configuration allows for connections between a master device and a single Series Three controller by using the RS-422 series interface, the RS-232 to RS-422 adapter, or a Modem connection. The multi-drop configuration allows for master/slave communication between a Series Six controller or host computer and a group of up to 8 Series Three controllers over the RS-422 interface or Modem connection. The IC630CCM300 communication module is configured using a DIP switch. The standard Baud rate for this module is 19.2 Kilo-Baud per second, while other baud rates can be configured by using the DIP switch. The IC630CCM300 communication module is installed on a single slot on the base rack, and it draws its power from the backplane.
