Technical Information

The IC660BLM508 terminator is a GE manufactured 75-ohm rated terminator. It has 4 connection points. It is encapsulated to reduce the presence of waves at the bus end of a device. Among the 4 connection points of the IC660BLM508 terminator, 2 of them are used for serial terminals and the other 2 are used as sheaths. The IC660BLM508 terminator is made to be used with the GE Genius Bus. The bus is used to send and receive data and information to and from the Genius I/O block. The IC660BLM508 terminator connector is a Serial 1, Serial 2, Shield In, and Shield Out terminator. The terminator is connected on the front side of the I/O block. The Serial 1, Serial 2, Shield In, and Shield Out connectors are present on the blocks along with the isolated circuits.


The Genius I/O block is small in size and it can be mounted both horizontally and vertically mounted at up to a distance of 7500 feet away from the PLC system. It can be used remotely. A programmer terminal or HMI port is present on the block to configure and monitor the block’s applications. The I/O runs with a voltage rating of 24 to 48 Volts DC and it has a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz. There are LED indicators on the front of the block that show the operating and communication status of the block. The IC660BLM508 terminator is used to cancel out the high frequency noise that is generated during the transmission process. The 75-ohm terminator is used to match the impedance rating of the Genius protocol. The terminating resistor should be kept away from electrostatic discharge and sources of heat.

 The final letter in the part number (ex. IC660BLM508K) indicates the revision. Revision K or later use the newer style electronic housing and therefore needs the newer style plastic door and may indicate some compatibility issues with the terminal strip.
