Technical Information

The GE Fanuc IC660BRD025 sinking output block has been made for the GE Fanuc Genius modular redundancy system. This 32-point discrete output block belongs to the GMR output subsystem, which controls discrete output loads. A typical GMR system comprises an input device subsystem for collecting input data from 1 or multiple sensors, connected PLCs running the same application program, and an output subsystem consisting of groups of Genius blocks controlling shared output loads. The GMR output subsystem consists of an H-Block redundant output group, T-Block redundant output group, I-Block redundant output group, 1 out of 1 diagnostic block redundant output group, and the individual Genius blocks. Communication between the output blocks and the PLC is provided via a redundant Genius I/O bus.


The IC660BRD025 output block can be used only in the H-Block redundant output group configuration. A typical H-Block output group configuration consists of 2 Genius source output blocks wired in parallel on one side of the actuator and 2 Genius sink output blocks like the IC660BRD025 wired in parallel on the other side of the load. Each output block in the configuration receives output signals from the CPUs via Genius busses, and each block must be configured by using a handheld monitor. As a standard feature, the IC660BRD025 output block has 32 isolated output circuits with a built-in feedback resistor and blocking diode on each output circuit. The diodes and feedback resistors on each output point help improve signal quality by reducing back-drive current within the circuit and simplifying the field-wiring. The IC660BRD025 output block is configured by using the GMR software and it must be installed on a GMR-set bus.

 The final letter in the part number (ex. IC660BRD025K) indicates the revision. Revision K or later use the newer style electronic housing and therefore needs the newer style plastic door and may indicate some compatibility issues with the terminal strip.
