Product Description

The IC694BEM341 RX3i FIP is a Bus Controller Module. This is a special purpose module in the RX3i series. The Genius Bus Controller interfaces a PACSystems RX3i and a Genius I/O serial bus. The bus controller can also serve the Genius blocks, other PLCs with Genius Bus Controllers, VersaMax and Field Control I/O Stations, Multiple Hosts, Remote Drops, and Genius Hand-Held Monitors.

The features of the IC694BEM341 RX3i FIP include being able to exchange up to 128 bytes with each device on the Genius I/O bus and automatically reporting faults, alarms, and certain other predefined conditions. This bus controller also stores any diagnostic messages it may receive, which are automatically read by the CPU. Faults can then be displayed in the fault table via the programming software.

The IC694BEM341 supports all Genius datagrams and all global data is repeatedly broadcast automatically. Up to eight Genius bus controllers can be included in the RX3i system. Using advanced diagnostics capabilities, the bus controller is configurable with 153.5 Kbaud standard/extended, 76.8 Kbaud, or 38.4 Kbaud. This is a daisy chained bus cable with single twisted pair plus shield or Twinax; however, fiber optic cable modems can also be used. A maximum number of 32 devices is allowed unless the 38.4 Kbaud is used, and then a maximum number of 16 devices can be utilized.
