Technical Information

The IC695GCG001 communication gateway belongs to the RX3i Genius series of products designed by GE Fanuc. It has a Simplex Genius serial bus that interfaces Genius I/O devices to a PROFINET I/O controller. It acts as a Genius Bus controller module on a Genius network. The IC695GCG001 communication gateway provides 2 RJ-45 Ethernet ports which can be used to connect the module to a GE PROFINET controller. Each of the Ethernet ports operates independently via an Ethernet switch which is embedded in it. This module comes with 4 indicator LEDs to display the status of the module and its operations. The LEDs are the “POWER,” “OK,” “FAULT,” and “CONNECT” LEDs. The module also has 2 indicator LEDs to display the status of the Genius Bus and they are the “COM” and “BUS B” LEDs.     


The IC695GCG001 RX3i Genius communication gateway scans the I/O devices which are connected to its serial bus while exchanging the retrieved data with the PROFINET I/O controller which is connected over Ethernet ports. It can also manage the I/O status of the configured individual modules, even if the communication between devices is interrupted. It can handle up to 31 Genius I/O modules on a single Genius serial bus. The IC695GCG001 RX3i Genius communication gateway has 6 Genius serial terminal Bus connectors. It requires a 24 Volts DC user-supplied power source to power up. The bottom of the module has a screw terminal block that can be used to connect the power supply. The module draws 0.2 Amps of maximum current from the power source. It also has an SD card slot that supports a non-volatile memory card as backup storage.
