IC693ALG221 is an Analog Current Input Module with four input channels for the Series 90-30 Programmable Logic Controller. This controller’s channels are each capable of converting an analog input signal into a digital signal as needed for the application. Two input ranges are available with a default of 4 to 20 mA with scaled user data so 4 mA corresponds to a count of zero and 20 mA to 32000. Each 1000 count represents 0.5 mA. If a jumper is added to the I/O terminal board, the input range is adjusted to 0 to 20 mA with scaled user data scale corresponding to a count of 32000 with each 800 count equal to 0.5 mA. This module is equipped with two range jumpers: one for channels 1-2 and one for channels 3-4.
The IC693ALG221 input module allows conversion speed of one half milliseconds for each of the channels with an update rate of two milliseconds for any of the provided channels. Resolution speed on a converted signal is 12 bits over either chosen range. Percent AI user data registers in 16 bit 2’s complement format. If the current source is reversed into the input, the module will output a data word that parallels to the low end of the range.
Input protection for the IC693ALG221 is sufficient to work with reduced performance with up to 200 V in common mode settings. This module also allows electrical isolation of external noise. All field connections require a good grade twisted, shielded instrumentation cable connected to the COM or GND. An LED indicator monitors power supply operation. The main power source specific to the IC693ALG221 is +24 VDC supplied PLC power routed through an inverter for the module. IC693ALG221 uses power from the +5 VDC output to drive isolation circuitry.

The IC693ALG221 input module from GE Fanuc is an analog input module that comes with 4 inputs. It is a member of the GE Fanuc Series 90-30 product line. One of the most common applications for the IC693ALG221 input module is to use it to convert analog input signals into digital signals that can be used by digital applications. This input module can operate with 2 different current ranges which are 0 to 20 milliamps or 4 to 20 milliamps. The 4 input channels only take approximately 2 milliseconds to update. The resolution of the inputs is 4 microamps at 4 to 20 milliamps, and it is 5 microamps 0 to 20 milliamps. The IC693ALG221 input module features an accuracy rating 0.1% at the full scale.
The GE Fanuc IC693ALG221 analog input module consumes about 25 milliamps of power at a voltage rating of 5 Volts DC and it consumes about 100 milliamps of power at a voltage rating of 24 Volts DC when it is in operation under normal conditions. It can be installed in virtually any available rack in a GE PLC system. The PLC will supply the IC693ALG221 input module with its required power. The inputs on this module are labeled with the number 1 to 4. The operators of the module can select which channels that they want to use with the 2 range jumpers that are connected to the input module. One of the range jumpers is for input channels 1 and 2 and the other jumper is for input channels 3 and 4.

Repair your IC693ALG221
PDF Supply can repair your IC693ALG221 in 3-5 business days. And PDF Supply stands by all of its repairs with a 1 year customer satisfaction warranty.
â— What you will need:
â Variable Power Supply capable of +5 VDC.
â Calibrated DVM capable of displaying +5 VDC +/- 0.1mV.
â IBM PC / Compatible running LM90 or a HHP. â Non-Conductive Potentiometer adjuster.
1. Power off the 9030 PLC that has the analog card that is in need of calibration.
2. Remove any field wiring.
3. Wire terminals 1 and 2 together (0-20mA range jumper for channels 1&2). Wire terminals 11 and 12 together (0-20mA range jumper for channels 3&4). Connect channel 1 terminals 3 and 5 to the positive and negative side of your Variable Power Supply respectively.
4. Connect the DVM Voltage input and Common leads to the corresponding output terminals of the Variable Power Supply.
5. Power on the 9030 PLC, DVM and the Variable Power Supply. No warm-up period is required for the IC693ALG221.
6. Using the Variable Power Supply and verifying with the DVM, apply + 4.9990 VDC +/- 0.3 mV.
7. Hook up the HHP or PC to the 9030 PLC. Go to the assigned reference address of the module in the Data Table.
8. Verify that channel 1 reads 7D00H +/- 40H. If the reading is out of specifications then adjust P1 until channel 1 toggles between 7CF8H and 7D00H.
9. Power off the Variable Power Supply and remove the power supply connection at pins 3 and 5. 10. Connect the Variable Power Supply + and - leads to pins 4 and 6 of CH2 respectively. Power on the Variable Power Supply. Check the calibration of the channel as described in step 12.
11. Repeat procedures 9-12 for channels 3 & 4 by substituting the correct terminal strip pins for each channel. ((CH3 [+,-] pins 13,15)(CH4 [+,-] pins 14,16))
12. Verify the accuracy of each channel by testing for the following results:
13. Power off the 9030 PLC and the Variable Power Supply. Remove both range jumpers for channels 1-4. Remove the Variable Power Supply connection at channel 4 and re-connect the Variable Power Supply to channel 1.
14. Power on the 9030 PLC and the Variable Power Supply.
15. Using the Variable Power Supply and verifying with the DVM, apply + 4.9990 VDC +/- 0.3 mV.
16. Verify that channel 1 reads 7D00H +/- 50H. If the reading is out of specifications then adjust P2 until channel 1 toggles between 7CF8H and 7D00H. This effectively calibrates to 1/2 bit (2 uA) resolution with a 4 mA offset.
17. Repeat steps 9-11 and substitute the Calibration Verification chart in step 12 for the one in step 18.
18. Verify the accuracy of each channel by testing for the following results:
19. Re-seal P1 and P2 with an anti-static potentiometer sealer.
