IC693APU305 is an Input / Output processor module in the 90 – 30 series of PLCs made by GE Fanuc. The module delivers direct processing of rapid signal pulses required for control applications such as velocity measurement, fast response process control, material handling, marking as well as packaging.
For every CPU sweep the I/O processor communicates with the CPU through 32 discrete inputs (%I), 32 discrete outputs (%Q), 15 words of analog inputs (%AI) as well as 6 words of analog outputs (%AQ). The %AQ outputs are used by the CPU program to set up timer values or send other controlling parameters to the I/O Processor.
The IC693APU305 module consists of 12 points of positive logic inputs delivering an input voltage of either 5 VDC or 10 to 30 VDC. Moreover, it has 8 positive logic outputs; 4 outputs with a current rating of 1 Amp and 4 configurable outputs with a rating of 0.5 Amps.
Outputs are normally used to drive indicating light, relays, solenoids etc. Power for operation of the module’s circuit registry comes from the 5 VDC bus located on the baseplate backplane.
Module Features
Module features include:
• Up to 12 positive logic (source) inputs with input voltage range selection of either 5 VDC (TTL) or 10 to 30 VDC (non-TTL).
• Up to eight positive logic (source) outputs: four outputs with 1 amp rating and four configurable outputs with 0.5 amp rating
• Outputs protected by replaceable fuse (one fuse common to all outputs)
• Dedicated processor provides 500 ïs I / O update
• Counts per Timebase register for input rate measurement
• Total Counts register (32-bit) accumulates total counts received by module
• Four Strobe data registers for input position capture
• Two Timer data registers for indicating input pulse length or input spacing in milliseconds
• Thirty-two range comparators (outputs returned in %I and %AI data)
• Software configuration
• Internal module diagnostics
• Individual LEDs that indicate Module OK and Configured OK status
• Individual LEDs that indicate state of Outputs 1 through 4
• A removable terminal board for connection of field wiring.

Maximum Limit of Position Offset
Description
Configuring an IC693APU305 on VersaPro 2.03. APU function type as ABS-1024, which should allow a position offset of up to 1023. However, position offset is limited to 255 maximum. CME PLC LD Ver 3.0 has the same issue. Logicmaster 90-30 works fine and allows a position offset up to 1023 with ABS-1024. Similar problems exist with APU functions ABS-360 and ABS-512.
Resolution
The upper limits in the database were incorrect. They have been corrected as of VersaPro 2.03 Special 5 and Machine Edition Logic Developer, PLC V4.0.
