The IC693CBL312 is an I/O bus expansion cable manufactured by GE Fanuc. It is a 0.5 foot (0.15 meters) long, continuous shield cable. One end of the cable is equipped with a male 25-pin D connector, while the other end of the cable has a two- headed connector. One of these connectors is female and the other is male. IC693CBL312 is an I/O bus expansion cable is considered a wye cable. The cables primary purpose is to extend the IO bus to either remote or expansion baseplates. The cable is compatible with a Series 90-30 system. If the user needs more I/O slots within the system or wants baseplates located further away from the CPU, this IC693CBL312 wye cable is a necessary component of the solution.  

Users use a maximum of 7 cables when installing an I/O expansion system. However, the collective length of the cables between the CPU baseplate and the last expansion plate in the system cannot be longer than 50 feet or 15 meters.  To install a IC693CBL312, connect the single male connector with the 25-pin female port located on the CPU baseplate. To set up the system with cables, the single male connector needs to be connected to the 25-pin female connector on the CPU baseplate. This is on the right hand side. Next, use the male head on the dual connector side of the cable to connect with the 25-pin female connector located on the first expansion baseplate in the system.  The PLC system may malfunction should the guidelines for cable length be ignored. Users must also take care they do not connect or disconnect any cables when the I/O expansion baseplates are under power.
