The GE Fanuc IC693PIF300 is a personal computer interface card, also known as PCIF. This component can plug into any PC, AT or ISA Bus 8-bit slot. This allows a PC to connect with up to four separate 90-30 Expansion or Remote I/O racks. This in turn enables the PC to monitor or control up to a maximum of 1280 bytes of I/O data. This is done through computer languages or else by using third-party control software. The PCIF can support a wide range of analog and digital modules. A further feature is the watchdog-supervised RUN output signal and relay. This allows the PCIF to be integrated with safety circuits. Users can access the relay through a three-pin removable terminal strip.
Users should follow the instructions to install the PCIF in an available PC expansion slot. Take care to ensure the metal I/O bracket of the card is making solid electrical contact with the PC chassis and that the power supply for the computer is well grounded. This will strengthen the noise immunity of the system. The I/O racks can be located up to 700 feet away from the PC. There is a 25-pin female D connector which is an important part for connecting the racks. Remote and/or expansion racks can be connected to the card using this connector to link the racks in a daisy-chain formation. After the card has been installed, users can the connected the racks to the D-connector. It’s possible to use standard length expansion cables from GE Fanuc or custom length cables to interconnect racks.
