The IC697MEM733 is a 256 KB, 32-Bit CMOS Expansion Memory manufactured by GE Fanuc for Series 90-70. This memory must be used to provide logic and data memory in the PLC CPU 780, 781, 782, 788, and 789 modules. IC697MEM733 is installed as a daughter board, and it is located in the same slot as the module it serves. For this reason, an additional slot is not necessary. The IC697MEM733 has numerous notable features including its availability in 128 KB, 256 KBs with 256 KB of non-volatile flash memory, 256 Kbytes, and 512 Kbytes. This memory expansion is conveniently configurable for data and program storage.
In the event of power loss, memory is saved by the lithium battery C697ACC701strategically placed the baseboard housing. Aside from maintaining user memory in the absence of power, the lithium battery operates the PLC CPU’s calendar clock. The battery’s expected shelf life is 10 years if maintained at 20 degrees Celsius (68 degrees Fahrenheit). Memory can be retained for up to 6 months nominal without applied power. Flash memory is retained in the event of power loss with or without the battery connected. Please note: It is essential to install a new battery before removal of the old battery. Logic program memory is continuously error-checked by the PLC CPU. During installation, only a #1 Phillips screwdriver is required, so it is easy for the user to install this memory expansion in the field.
