Made by GE Intelligent Platforms Control Systems Solutions, the IC200MDD842 is a discrete mixed module from the VersaMax family. The IC200MDD842 combines both discrete inputs and discrete outputs into a single device. This device provides a total of 32 input and output points across three groups. The first group contains 16 discrete outputs, while the other two groups each contain eight discrete inputs. The input points can be either positive logic or negative logic, meaning that the current is either received from the input devices and sent to the common or received from the common and sent to the input devices. Note: To support the negative logic function, this device must be upgraded to at least the IC200MDD842B version.
The discrete outputs for this device possess Electronic Short Circuit Protection (ESCP). The IC200MDD842 does not support channel isolation, but it does provide the following protection mechanisms for each output point: short circuit protection, electronic overcurrent protection, and free-wheeling diodes.
The IC200MDD842 also has diagnostic functions capable of detecting problems such as overloads or shorts, and it will generate a fault if such a condition exists. To assist the diagnostic functions, each input and output point on this device corresponds to an LED light. These LED lights display the input or output point’s current status with amber and green colors being used to indicate various conditions.
Each input and output point have a nominal voltage of 24 VDC. The load current for each input and output point is 0.5 amperes for 30 volts DC. Input and output response time is measured at 0.5 milliseconds.
