The GE Fanuc HE693ADC405 is an Isolated Analog Input Module. This module is designed to work in tandem with the Series 90-30 range. It is a 14-bit resolution module that has 4 channels. It has an operating voltage of +/-10V DC. The module has 700Vac Isolation. These isolation channels are channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground. The module converts the voltage input signal into digital values. These range between -32,000 to +32,000. Once converted, they are placed into the %AI table of the PLC CPU. In the PLC program, there is a programmable set-point level for each one of the four channels. The levels are set by four %AQ output registers. Should the set-point level be reached or exceeded by the analog input value, a corresponding digital input %I will be energized. The first four digital input %I’s to be created will then represent the set-point alarms of the four channels.

When calibrating the module, it is important to do so with a battery-powered calibrator that has vastly superior accuracy to the module. Users should try to use one with accuracy that is more than twice that of the module. They should also use high-grade wire during the process, keeping the wire lengths to a minimum. The wire used during calibration should be the same wire that will be used in the application. The module should be upright in the panel-mounted position and the PLC needs to be in ‘STOP’ mode. Also, modules should be placed in the respective slots that they will be used in during the application. Users should also take care not to expose the module to extreme variations in temperature and allow it 15 minutes to stabilise after the connection has been completed.
